Apple cinnamon bread is an easy bread machine recipe with plenty of apple-y flavor, and just enough cinnamon.
While I’m all about homemade sandwich bread in the bread machine, sometimes you’re craving something with a bit of sweetness. This bread machine apple cinnamon bread is full of apple-y flavor, and it has just enough cinnamon to really bring it to life.
Since this recipe uses diced whole apples, you’ll still get a good crumb in the bread, dotted with rich apple chunks that add sweetness and flavor.
The main trick here is to chop the apples very finely, into about 1/4 inch dice, so they’re not too big in the finished bread. They’re also added at the “mix-in” beep about 10 minutes into the initial kneading, which allows the gluten to form properly before the apples are added. (If they’re added initially, sometimes this bread can come out a bit flat.)
Beyond apples and cinnamon, this bread would also be good with a handful of chopped pecans or raisins added as well.

Ingredients for Bread Machine Apple Cinnamon Bread
This simple bread machine apple bread uses basic everyday ingredients that you’ll likely already have at home. The vegetable oil helps keep the crumb nice and soft, as does the milk.
You can use honey or maple syrup in this recipe, and both work well. You can also use plain sugar or brown sugar, but I’d suggest adding another tablespoon of water or milk in that case.
Another good option is apple cider syrup, which is incredibly delicious, and similar to maple syrup but made from apple cider. It gives an intense apple-y flavor to this bread, and it’s also good on pancakes.
One and a Half Pound Loaf Ingredients

- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 Tbsp Honey or Maple Syrup, see notes

Two Pound Loaf Ingredients
To make a 2-pound loaf of Bread Machine Apple Cinnamon Bread, you’ll need the following:
Liquid Ingredients (add first)
- 1 1/3 cup milk
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 3 Tbsp Honey or Maple Syrup, see notes
Dry Ingredients (on top of wet)
- 4 cups bread flour (or AP flour)
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 1/2 tsp SAF instant yeast (or 3 tsp bread machine yeast)
Mix-Ins (at the Beep)

Making Bread Machine Apple Cinnamon Bread
The basic process is the same as you’d use with any bread machine. Start by adding your wet ingredients in to the bottom of the pan, followed by your dry ingredients. Use the flour to create an “island” on top of the liquid ingredients, and then place all the other dry ingredients into wells on that island. So in this case, it’s the salt, cinnamon, and yeast on top of the flour.

After you add the apple chunks at the mix-in timer, the machine will do the rest.
It should finish kneading the bread and then allow it to rise and bake nicely without any more intervention from you.
In the end, you should have a beautiful loaf of apple cinnamon bread right from your bread machine. It did require a little babysitting at the beginning for the first 10 minutes, but after that, it’s all hands off.
Bread Machine Apple Bread Variations
Beyond a simple apple cinnamon bread, you can also add in other flavors to this bread.
As I mentioned, it’s particularly good if you use apple cider syrup as the sweetener (but honey, maple and plain sugar work too). If using plain sugar, be sure to add an extra tablespoon of water or milk so the batch has enough liquid.
Chopped toasted pecans are delicious in this bread too, and you’d add about 1/2 cup at the mix in timer (along with the apples).
Raisins are also delicious in this bread, and I think in that case, you’d add about 1/2 cup at the mix in timer and maybe increase the cinnamon a bit. Cinnamon raisin apple bread is delicious, and I think it calls for even more cinnamon flavor.
How would you spice up this tasty apple bread?

- Turn on the bread machine and select "basic white" bread.
- Allow the machine to work the dough, watching it at the beginning to make sure it doesn't need a tablespoon or two more liquid to allow the dough to form.
- At the mix-in timer, add the diced apple pieces.
- Allow the bread machine to finish the load, proceeding through the rise and bake cycles.
- When the bake is complete, remove the loaf from the pan and allow it to cool completely on a rack before slicing.

I tried this recipe today but with soy milk instead of cows milk due to dairy allergy, and it turned out great! I used the dark crust setting because that’s my preference. The only thing I came across is the apples seem to be so moist that it doesn’t catch on the dough good enough when it’s included, so I ended up with a lot of apple on the outside and not a lot in the middle. I’m wondering if anyone else has had this experience and if it’s an issue with my bread machine, and if I should just try taking out the dough and incorporating the apple myself before adding it back into the machine.
My bread maker doesnt have an add in / mix in timer. What do you suggest i do
Generally, bread machines knead for about 20 minutes before going into the first rise. The timer is usually half way through, at about 10 minutes. I’d suggest adding the apple pieces at about 8 to 10 minutes into the cycle, and that should give you the same result. (Or, if you want to know for the future for your machine in the future, you can time how long it kneads during a regular loaf bread without mix ins, and then you can figure out what half way through would be.)
I eat low-carb and low calorie. It would be helpful to know the cal/carb count on your wonderful-looking breads.. Is it there? Am I just not seeing it? 🙂
I just added the nutrition facts into the recipe for you.
